Tragedy : Lawmaker Loses 3 Children, 4 Grandchildren, 2 Sisters And Driver, In Auto Crash

The three biological children and seven other family members of a Nigerian Lawmaker, Alhaji Saidu Yarkufoji, a member of Zamfara State House of Assembly, representing Bakura State Constituency, have been buried.
The burial ceremony of the late family members of the lawmaker, came after the Zamfara Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday confirmed their death in an auto crash. NAN reported that other family members of the lawmaker, who died in the accident were four of his grandchildren, his two sisters and his driver.
The accident which occurred along Sokoto-Gusau road on Sunday, was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Route Commander Nasiru Ahmed, who said that the crash was a head-on collision between a Volkswagen Golf car and a Coca-Cola truck.
Ahmed said that out of the 10 persons, who died in the car conveying 12 passengers, nine were female.He said that the other two persons who sustained various degrees of injuries, were still receiving treatment at Yariman Bakura Special Hospital, Gusau.
Ahmed urged motorists to avoid night journey and over speeding as much as possible to reduce crashes across the state.
This is coming after it was reported that the within the spate of four months five lawmakers – an ex-lawmaker inclusive – have been reported dead in Nigeria for 2018.

A member of the Taraba State Assembly, Hosea Ibi, was kidnapped in the early days of January 2018 and after efforts of the security operatives to get him freed, he was killed. The remains of the lawmaker was found by the police on January 15, 2018.
In the early hours of March 17, 2018, Nigerians were greeted with the news of the death of Senator Ali Wakil representing Bauchi South. The shocking news of Wakil, who reportedly slumped in his home after suffering from cardiac arrest threw the National Assembly into mourning state.
Barely 13 days after the death of Senator Wakil, the news of the death of another lawmaker was announced.
This time, it was the death of Umar Buba Jibril, a member of the House of Representatives representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency. Jibril passed away at the age of 58 years after serving three tenures in the house. Before his death, he was the deputy majority leader.
The early days of April 2018 was greeted with the news of the death of an ex-lawmaker, Independence Ogunewe. Ogunewe was on Tuesday found dead in his Abuja home on April 3, 2018 at the age of 57-year-old. The former lawmaker represented Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, Imo State for two terms at the House of Representatives.
On April 4, 2018, a first time Senator representing Katsina North constituency, Mustapha Bukar was announced dead.
